Jim and Meredith Henry (j.m.henry@verizon.net or 804 513-0365 invite you to celebrate April Fool’s Day while hiking 5+ miles at Powhatan State Park on Wednesday, April 1^st. We will meet at the boat landing at 9:50 AM and begin hiking promptly at 10:00 AM. The hike is moderately difficult with one long, steep climb and a few other challenging inclines. It is suggested that all wear hiking boots and carry walking sticks, especially if there have been recent rains.

From Richmond, go to the interchange of Rt. 288 and Patterson Avenue (Rt. 6), driving West along Rt. 6 approximately 13 miles, taking a left onto 522 South. After crossing the river, continue for 1.9 miles looking for the Powhatan State Park sign. Turn right onto Rt. 617. From Southside, take US 60 West from Midlothian, then US 522North to a left turn onto Rt. 617. Travel on Rt. 617 for 1.4 miles, turning right into the park. Once reaching the park pay the parking fee or display your state park pass. Then follow the entrance road to the first left, turning onto River Launch Road. At its end, meet in the parking area by the boat launch. Restroom stops are planned during the hike. Carry water and a snack. If weather permits bring a bagged lunch and eat with us at the river pavilion at hikes end.
