Doug Ammons, named by Outside Magazine as "one of the top ten game changers in adventure since 1900" will be bringing his presentation and movie, Wildwater: A Love Story, to Richmond. The film is about the beauty and soul of whitewater, and why people are so drawn to rivers.
Doug has been compared to mountaineer Reinhold Messner for his mind-bending solo runs of some of the hardest rivers in the world. His solo descent of British Columbia's Grand Canyon of the Stikine, a Class V river, is the pinnacle of expedition kayaking, and a feat that has never been repeated. His film and presentations have been called "spellbinding" and a "must see " that "will leave a fire in your heart for the outdoors".
The program is presented by Coastal Canoeists as a fundraiser for the James River Outdoor Coalition. Admission is $10.00 or $5.00 for Coastal"s members. For more information, contact Martha James 804-883-6252 or marthajames@yahoo.com.
