September 29 - October 1, 2017 (Friday - Sunday), Tea Creek Area of the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia Art Ritter o2behiking@comcast.net. Join me for camping and hiking in the Tea Creek Area in West Virginia, Friday September 29 – Sunday October 1. General itinerary: Leave about 7AM Friday, drive to that area (about 4.5 hours), set up camp, eat lunch in camp. Hiking Friday afternoon. Saturday – various day hikes in the area. Sunday – break camp after breakfast, hike in the Cranberry Glades Botanical Area for a couple of hours, drive back to Richmond. Caveat: I’ve not hiked in Tea Creek but have a topographic map and guide book. I have done one trip in Cranberry Glades Wilderness, which is also an option for hiking. Fall colors should be nice. Cost: $10 cash per night for each campsite that we snag (figure 2-3 tents per site); help driver(s) with expenses – suggested $30 each person depending on numbers. Limit: eight people. Website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/mnf/recarea/?recid=6998 Trip will be cancelled if it looks like a washout. I will bring my propane lantern, two burner stove, saw, axe, cooler. With a bigger group, an additional stove, lantern, and/or cooler would be welcome
