July 14 (Friday) Camp Hoover ( C/2)

_{We will hike to a presidential retreat!  No, not Mar a Lago, or even Camp David, but Rapidan Camp deep in Shenandoah National Park.  It's a decent summer time hike to a lovely area, and was President Herbert Hoover's little piece of heaven.  The distance of the loop is about 7-9 miles, and the elevation change is in the 1,400 foot range.  We'll get an early start: 7AM (so we can beat the heat a bit).  Afterwards, we can go to the Big Meadows Visitor Center for a bit, and maybe get a cold blackberry milkshake.  We will gather at the Park and Ride at Exit 173 on I-64.  Let Art Ritter know at o2behiking@yahoo.com if you are coming.  I will restrict it to 12 people.  The last time I was there, I documented this account of the hike:  http://o2bhiking.blogspot.com/2016/04/president-hoovers-rural-retreat.}
